Halloween weekend

This weekend we went out to the lakehouse with some friends and fam for Halloween weekend. There was some Canton time, lots of food, and the boys played golf...but, mostly we just had a great time busting out the boots, hooded sweatshirts, hot chocolate, and the fire pit for roasting marshmallows. Our weekend consisted of 10 adults, 4 dogs, and a baby. Such a fun time!

Kinley loved playing with dogs...a little too much....there's always a first time to get covered in dog poo. Yuck!

Alex put this marshmallow on the fire and just let it sit there and let it burn to a crisp and of course had to taste it. Yuck again!

Then for Trick-or-Treating we went to Matt and Aly Booth's in Dallas with The Barstads and the Bob and Allison Booth's. I was beyond thrilled to get to spend Halloween with my sweet friends this year! We were all inspired by Jeff's amazing 30th birthday party that Kris threw him a couple weeks ago and while shopping for that we picked up some mini 20's attire for the kiddos. Last minute the adults decided not to dress up....the Rangers were on...it was an early and quick trick or treat. But, all the kids had a blast! They played, ate candy, danced, ate candy, and trick-or-treated for more candy! Ben Barstad and his entourage of 7 girls were pretty dang cute! So much fun.

Aly hosted an amazing night with such cute decor and amazing food and I could not have asked for more fun!

Kinley did pretty great trick-or-treating. I was not sure she would really get it...but, the non-stop candy was definitely enough for her to keep going up to the doors with the "big girls."

slice-n-bake birthday cookies

When you are TOTALLY out of groceries at your house and do not have time to bake or pick up a cake or cupcakes for someone's birthday...just do what I did...and celebrate with slice and bake! A few candles and some writing icing and in 15 minutes is a birthday celebration!

We celebrated Cassie's birthday at D Group last night and out of her sheer will-power and dedication, Cassie blew out all 18 candles in one try. These girls love some cookies and love each other. They also confiscated my camera at some point to take not so cute pics of themselves.

I love you all.
I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say 'They are my people,' and they will say, 'The Lord is God.'

these are a few of my favorite things

Kinley has a new found love of brushing her teeth. She wants to brush them 5 times a day. She wants to take the toothbrush and tooth paste with her in her diaper bag everywhere she goes. I definitely think it has to do with the fact that we just moved her stool in front of her sink and she can now see herself in the mirror, open the drawer to get her toothbrush and toothpaste out herself, and reach her toothbrush to the water all on her own. She wants me to turn on the water "again...again...again" so she can reach it. She also likes it when I brush her hair while she is brushing her teeth. I admit, I use the term "hair" generously...but, she is starting to grow a little and she must love the way it feels on her head. So, #1 new thing she Kinley loves it to brush her teeth while I am brushing her hair.

Kinley still LOVES to help with the laundry. Remember this post and this one? But, she took it to another level today and climbed in there long enough to sit down, take her shoes off, and make herself comfy.

And, we still LOVE Princess and the Frog. Beauty and the Beast is getting up there...but, Princess and the Frog is the all-time fav. She loves to dance to the songs and it is so precious when she wants to climb in my lap and watch with me. Those still, quiet moments are few and far between with this crazy child but, they are so special.

The fact that she delights in the simple things brings me so much joy. My heart is longing to keep her this sweet and pure. I can only hope God and His Word will help do it for me.
How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.

Ella, Eden, Kinley

Kinley had the time of her life this week when she got to have BOTH Ella and Eden over to play! She just LOVES her friends and looks at their pictures DAILY on the fridge. It was a special occasion to have Allison and Ella in town and Jen and Eden over! We just hung out at the house, played in the backyard and slid down the slide alot, ordered pizza, strung toys out all over the house, played peek-a-boo in Kinley's closet and all took a bath together. They were all so tired at the end of the night because they had played and laughed so much! For some reason there was not a battery in my house that would work in my camera and so all these pics and videos are from my phone... Sorry for the not-so-great quality.

Ella and Eden hit it off like they had known each other their whole lives and were the best of friends. I love how kids can do that. They held this hug for like a full minute.

Dora was the theme of the night because Ella was wearing her fantastic Dora outfit Allison made her. When Kinley was naked for dinner, Eden had to be naked too...but, when it started to get cold outside, the only shirt we could get her to put on was Kinley's Dora shirt to match Ella. Ella kept saying "We match, We match." So cute! By far, the highlight of the night was that they all watched Dora together on my bed and jumped and danced to the "I'm the Map" song like 5 times over and over. It was hilarious....see for yourself!

It was such a blast to have these sweet angels over! Come back soon friends!
