The Little Mermaid

This weekend Kinley and I had a girls day at Artie's Playhouse and went to see The Little Mermaid.
I seriously love Artie's Playhouse. Kid-friendly theatre with performances full of kids.
It's just so fun. It took Kinley a few shows to finally get used to the theatre and not be scared of the dark theatre or any villainous character that may come out. And Little Mermaid did not disappoint.  It was a notch above any show we've seen there before and took down Pinkalicious as Kinley's favorite show at the theatre so far.

If we can, we always try to dress in character for the shows and luckily Kinley has about 3 Ariel dresses to choose from.

Waiting for the show to start.
Here are few of our favorite scenes....Under the Sea
Poor Unfortunate Souls
and Kiss the Girl (which they of course did not the whole show...these are kids for goodnesss sakes!)
The best part is dancing on stage after the show ends and meeting the cast.
Here are Ariel's sisters
And Kinley's favorites...Ariel and Flounder.
Can't wait till our next show at Arties!

more July summer days...

A few more things we did in July that haven't made the blog yet....

When the days have been hot, we have enjoyed some play time inside either playing board games, playdough, or dressing up. IMG_5494 IMG_5495 cowgirl and Jessie are favorite dress up costumes these days.... IMG_5763 IMG_5762 Jessie
Kinley has been asking to take more pics with my phone lately. Not always successfully. IMG_5657 IMG_5661 IMG_5667
We celebrated a couple brother birthdays in July. Matt turned 25 on the 14th and Alex turned 27 on the 23rd.

I can't get enough of these sunrises after CG. Good morning cows!
The Harrison's went to the lake with DeGirolami's when they were in town from Florida (minus Liana unfortch)...who, for some reason, I have no pictures of. But, the kids enjoyed playing with everyone and being spoiled by eating ice cream at all times of the day, dressing up in Mendy and Alex's matching tank tops, and boating.

I love how Kinley is trying to force him to look and smile. So subtle.
One was a big helper...and the other fell asleep. IMG_5730 IMG_5735 IMG_5734
Ty loves to hand-feed Brinkley and for some reason, she totally lets him. IMG_5726
Alex caught a really cool green tree frog that we kept in a tupperware container overnight so the kids could see him in the morning. When we first got up, we realized the frog had jumped its way out of the container and was loose in the house somewhere but, I quickly spotted him on top of a floor A/C vent cooling off and Ben snatched him up again. The frog had lots of fans and then we set him loose again.

Mom took the kids to the Sea Life Aquarium at Grapevine Mills while I was falling asleep gathering important continuing education for accounting one day. My mom is amazing and does so much fun stuff with them while I am working a little. Preschool has nothing on a day with Honey!
They LOVED it....especially Ty!
Everything was exciting to him. IMG_5746 IMG_5742 IMG_5752 IMG_5748 IMG_5749
This might be my favorite face.

They also helped her bake some rainbow cupcakes one day. How fun! I want to spend the day with Honey too!
What a happy July...bring on August!

July Playgroup

Here are a few things we did with playgroup friends during July...

Oh, the children's museum. We love it. Perfect summer activity and so, so much to do for the kids. We used to spend the majority of our time in the grocery store area. And still that is what the girls like to do most.
  IMG_5463 IMG_5462
But, now with all these boys...they have a different idea of what is fun. Much more looking at the caged or relics of animals, playing legos, cars and lots of dinosaurs.
  IMG_5466 IMG_5467 IMG_5473
How many kids can we fit in a dinosaur footprint!?
IMG_5478 IMG_5482
And the Dino Dig is always a huge hit.

Grapevine Mills Mall

We love a good trip to the mall. We pretty much just ride the carousels little and small, eat whatever we want for dinner and do a little shopping.
I have to confess, this particular outing ended in one of the biggest tantrums I have ever seen from Kinley. We had to carry her kicking and screaming out of the mall because we said no when she asked for a particular new princess dress from the Disney store.
We are so mean, I know.
Needless to say, her next playgroup outing was cancelled for her and she was not allowed to attend.
 Poor thing.
It's not always fun and games at these outings.

We can take our own photo booth pics when we dont want to pay $5, right?!

A couple weeks later, we went to the zoo to visit the brand new baby elephant! I have to say, the weather for July has been incredible this year! The random rainy days has kept it not too hot and we have taken advantage by being outside! IMG_5672 IMG_5674 IMG_5690 IMG_5691 IMG_5680
How cute is this little baby elephant!?  We got to vote on her name and Belle won! (short for Bluebelle...which we love bc that is our fish's name)
But, on the day of Kinley voted for Rose and AG voted for Belle.

This was not really a playgroup outing but it will be soon! It was maybe my favorite of all these places. It is brand new this summer and so fun! A big play area for the kids and a lazy river and a big pool and lots of big slides for older kids too. Plus, for residents it is super cheap!  We can all go for just $6.
This day, we only got to swim about 45 min before a massive thunderstorm hit but it was still so much fun!

And, I don't know how or why Ty was posing like this...but I am a little obsessed with these pictures.
