ALCS - Game 1

The Harrison's gave us the awesome privilege last night of going to the ALCS Rangers vs. Yankees Game 1. Even though it was a heartbreaking loss....giving up a 5-0 lead....it was still totally surreal to be there! So proud of the Rangers! I remember going to games growing up when they were in the "glory days" with Nolan Ryan, Pudge Rodriguez, Rafael Palmeiro, and Rueben Siera. I remember going to Nolan Ryan's last game with my cousins. It was crazy then and last night it was even crazier.

lots of pumpkins...lots of plaid

This week we went to Halls Pumpkin Farm to slide down the slide, pull some wagons around, look at lots of pumpkins, and take lots of pictures. We decided to all wear plaid...because, why wouldn't we....and it was a great night! It was a little late when we went and I wish we had done pics in the daytime...but, they turned out super cute anyway. Also, we went on a weeknight and there aren't hayrides during the week....so, we may have to go back again on the weekend!

fall decor...and a not so great mirror project

I have been getting inspired lately by all the fabulous fall decor posts from other bloggers like this one! I decided I should get in the spirit and so this week I decided to surprise Ben with a clean house full of fall decor when he got home from work! He usually is super excited once we start this decorating season because he knows that putting up the Christmas tree is just around the corner! So, here is a little peak of fall at our house!

I like to use runners on my antique wood table but, I didn't have a fall runner...so, the cheap budgeter in me decided to make a runner from 4 placemats....a little ghetto...but, it works!

This is definitely Kinley's favorite addition. We have to go outside and wave, talk to, and pat, pat, pat the scarecrow every morning, after nap, every evening....multiple times daily.

I love odd pumpkins and blue corn...the more crazy colors, shapes, and imperfections the better.

Also, we were sitting around the house this weekend with Mendy and Alex and she randomly turned to me and told me I needed to re-spray-paint my mantle mirror a "bold color." She said Nate Berkus said on his show that we should not be shy of color as long as we have some neutrals to anchor it. I love it when someone makes a decision for me and just tells me what to do with my house...so, we went immediately to Lowe's and decided on this mustard yellow color. (probably because of the amazing celebrate yellow fiesta on MADE) We were super excited about the project...but, the end result did not exactly elicit the excitement I was looking for. I definitely feel like everyone showcases the amazing "before and after" photos of craft projects...but, for me...there are just as many misses as hits....and here is just one of them.

By far, it is always the fun of the project and the creating phase that I love....but, my husband said he would be happy to re-spray-paint it again, any color I choose.....because it is not staying this color. Another trip to Lowe's for us, I guess!

homecoming parade and d-group girls!

Last night Kinley, Lauryn and I met up with Matt, Jen and Eden to watch the Colleyville Heritage High School homecoming parade and pep rally. It is crazy to go back to high school things at your old high school. Ten years seems like no time at all and then like forever in the same moment. It was Kinley's first parade and she loved watching the cars go by, waving to the students, and basically just eating candy for dinner. Lots of candy. Maybe that's why she woke up in the middle of the night....no nutrition and candy for dinner is not a good combo.

Anyway, I was super excited to go to the parade because my D-group girls were ALL in it! D-groups are a devotional/discipleship group of a few high school students at our church Compass Christian Church. It is my first year to be a D-group leader and I could not be blessed with more awesome girls. They are all seniors in high school and they are sweet, funny, compassionate, unique, godly young women. They are all super involved in school and at church. I am clueless why I get to be their leader and positive that I learn as much or more from them every week as they do. I am sure this is not the last post you will see about my girls. I will surely get way too attached and be devastated when they leave me for college.


After the parade, we headed over to the field for the pep rally where we watched the drill team dance and a fireworks show! Kinley did MUCH better with fireworks this time than for the 4th of July.
