My baby is not a baby anymore.
I really can't believe it.
And anyone who knows Dylan knows that his absolute favorite thing to do is drive cars.
He has more toys with wheels than really should be allowed.
And if he could, he would spend all day every day driving around outside. He runs the battery down to nothing and then puts that one on the charger and grabs another one.
And between my parents and my house, we have accumulated many power wheels.
All Dylan kept telling me over and over is that he wanted to drive cars for his birthday party.
So, I tried to rack my brain to figure out how to make that happen.
In my mind, I went back to Ty's train party and that made me think we could treat all our Power Wheels like a train and just parade them around in circles in our driveway.
Really the most simple party ever but it might have ended up being one of my favorites.
I searched the internet and Pinterest to find ANY Power Wheels party stuff and NOTHING.
Tons of bicycle parties but no Power Wheels.
So, I threw together an invite on my computer and texted it out and started thinking about what we could do.
It ended up being so much fun just treating the party like a big parade and decorating the cars like floats, adding streamers and flags and balloons and horns.
We drew line up parking spots on the driveway in chalk and got everyone in starting position before takeoff.
(And I realize that Parade is spelled wrong...the letters slid as I was moving the table.)
We served Dylan's favorite food and just sweat like crazy while kids drove in circles over and over again in the driveway.
There were crashes and bumper car moments, but overall it was just a dream.
Sweet brothers
We sang Happy Birthday and ate cake in mason jars.
We posed for a group picture and did the Pinata.
And the whole thing was just magical.
It is SO.MUCH.FUN. to bring to life a dream of one of my kids.
It is always a challenge but it is so much fun.
And THIS KID is just something special.
The morning of the party we had a family breakfast and opened presents and he is just SO EASY to celebrate.
Dylan celebrated his birthday at school on the first day! He had fun celebrating with Ms. Brenda and his school friends.
And these first day of school faces are killing me. So cute.
Dylan Lee - You are the greatest GIFT!
For real, you know how to make every person feel so special.
I love how when you hug me you hold me for a little while and pat MY back.
You tell me you love me to 1000 moons and back.
You tell me every day no matter how old you get you will hug me every single day.
You have a way about you that is God-given to brighten the lives of others.
You are easy-going and full of joy.
You have an ease of selflessness that is just not common for a kid your age.
You give everything you have freely to your siblings, cousins, friends.
You treasure one on one time and still want to snuggle every morning.
I am still like a kid in a candy store when you wake up every morning. I am just so excited.
You want me to sit right next to you on the couch during rest time even if I am working on my computer.
You want to be right next to me.
It is so precious and I don't ever want to forget it.
Life with you is just sweeter and more fun.
I am treasuring the two school years we have left we have left with you at home.
If I could keep you just like this, I would, except that I am just so excited to see all you will become.
God has made you SO special.
I love you big FOUR year old!
