Oh how we love the 4th of July!
This was our 16th annual 4th of July in Granbury with the Halberts at Camp David and each year just brings the best memories and is every bit as exciting and fun as we dream it will be. Each year gets more and more fun for the kids too as they get older and cherish that time together for multiple days and nights on end.
It is just so special.
I am so grateful each year for the chance to go and celebrate our nation's independence with our best friends.
Ben and I took the kids Thursday night and we spent the night eating at Stumpy's on Lake Granbury with some Halbert / Harmon family.
Jeff may or may not have stripped down to climb in the lake and take this picture while treading water and holding a phone above his head.
That is why Kinley looks terrified.
She is either afraid Jeff will 1) drown or 2) drop the phone in the water.
Both equally terrifying, I guess.
Friday morning, bright and early, Allison came with Ella and McKenna and we all jetted over to the Granbury town square for the parade.
This is a pic we take every year because usually someone is pregnant...
The fire trucks were the parades biggest hit...and there were at least 5 that went by.
After the parade some were hot and ready to go back to the house to swim and others were not going to miss the fun flair on the square and walked away with some awesome airbrush flag face tattoos.
When we got back from the square the Bakers came and it was so fun and we spent the day swimming, crafting, playing, red, white and blue nail painting, and SUPing...in the pool.
And by night, we had some fireworks and the best dance party ever.
These two could not be stopped and there was endless singing on the microphone and even some commentary for all listeners...i.e. "Avery, isn't this the best party ever!?" "It sure is Kinley, Who's having fun!?"
Hysterical.
Hysterical.
And sometimes...you just need to jump back in the pool with all your clothes on...
Party animals.
And the nights could not end better than this for these kids.
Multiple bodies in a bed for multiples nights = best sleepovers ever.
If this is not a sign of a good party, I don't know what is!?
We boated, swam, fished, and played in the sand box.
You just can't beat shooting off fireworks with Uncle Alex or getting a pedicure from Aunt Minnie.
But, our favorite was playing with sweet Lucy whom my kids nicknamed "Lucers" within 5 minutes and continued to call her non-stop.
It was a cute glimpse into what life with three will be.
It was a Harrison-good time.
