Pumpkin Patches

We visited a couple more pumpkin patches this year besides the Girl Scouts meeting.
We went one time to Honey's church pumpkin patch to help her pick out some pumpkins and my kids beg for pictures of themselves in any cutout they see.

We even hit up this same pumpkin patch after BSF one day with Stacee and Ryland Sept/Oct 2015

We also made a trip to the Flower Mound pumpkin patch with all playgroup on a weekday that the elementary schools were out. It was a blast. We have multiple years of pictures at this spot.

And, one thing I love about my friends and is how they do not even blink an eye when Kinley shows up like this...

I mean, let's take a closer look, blue sparkle headband and a ninja turtle arm sweat band are the best accessories, especially when walking around singing to yourself.
I love it. Get it girl.

Kinley's first Girl Scouts Meeting

Kinley is a Daisy this year!
I think Kristen and I were Daisy's and a Brownies growing up but never made it to the Girl Scout status.
Kinley has a few friends at school that are in Daisy's and she asked to get involved this year too. She has meetings one Friday a month right after school.
They wear their Daisy vest on meeting days and Kinley was so excited to wear hers. Thanks to Aunt Minnie for helping me get it ready.
She is in Troop 1402. I think Kristen and I were troop 1440 back in the day.
  Kinley's first girl scout meeting
Her first meeting was at Hall's Pumpkin Farm.
They each had to earn $3 throughout the week prior to be able to purchase her own pumpkin.
She helped clean up dishes after dinner, clean the playroom and her room, and took care of Haley also. She was excited to buy her own pumpkin.
They recited the Girl Scout promise, made sure to leave their snack area cleaner than they found it, and learned the Girl Scout handshake.

We had a private hay ride and fed the cows and mini donkeys.

Pretty sure Kinley was trying to get the cow to stick hers out.

We sat down after the hayride with our leader Ms. Margaret who did such an amazing job teaching from the Girl Scout Handbook.

A little play time and our first meeting was in the books! If anyone is hungry for Girl Scout cookies this year, I know where you can get some :)

Visiting Inie

The first weekend in October we got to take a little family trip to East Texas to visit Inie. My dad goes up almost every week and Ben always wants to go up and help him on the ranch but our weekends are pretty scheduled in advance.
There was only one weekend the whole fall that we didn't have soccer games so we took advantage of it to go see Inie. My dad was very excited for us to all go too. We got there Friday evening and had dinner and played around the house and went to bed.

Saturday morning we went with Inie into town to go watch the Oktoberfest parade. It was so cute and such a fun time for my kids. They watched all the little pageant girls and football teams and horses go by, got candy thrown at them and loved it all.

After the parade we went to the ranch.
We had a picnic lunch on a gorgeous day at the shop. It was my first time to see the ranch since the massive floods we had in the spring. It was so sandy and dusty and, ironically, we need rain now to help with the sand that was washed in by the floods.
We played on tractors and rode in trucks but our favorite was dad's new ATV he got for his birthday for the ranch. It made getting around so quick (although very dirty).
Everyone took a ride and took a turn driving.
 It was a blast.

We rode down to the river a few places that are too hard and bumpy to take a truck down to. We figured out we could take 5 adults and three kids on two vehicles, the ATV and the Ranger.
The little river beach was so fun for my kids.
We threw sticks to see them float down the river, played in the sand, skipped sand rocks. It was a perfect place to see the water.
And I heard a funny story about this particular spot on the river.
Apparently one time Inie and Bull went skinny dipping here and while they were in the water a friend rode by on a boat and just stopped to talk to them for a while not realizing they were in their birthday suits under the water.
It was so cute to see Inie laugh and blush about that memory.
What a fun lifetime of love they had together.
I just loved it.

As always, there were plenty of cows to look at. Trip to visit Inie
I love this picture of brothers looking at the cows. It reminds me of some pics I took of Kinley doing the same on this trip to the farm a few years ago.

After the farm we went back to Inie's house and no trip is complete without a walk around her property and a visit to the pond.

I love it there so much. So many amazing memories.
I am just thrilled each time we get to go visit and thankful for every moment we have there with her.

Dylan - 13 months

I promise, I am not going to do monthly Dylan updates for his second year.
But, there is just so much that happened during month 13 that I had to update once more. Most notably, he is a full on walker.
I was in denial for a good two weeks and didn't tell or really acknowledge it because I mean, how can I not have a crawling baby anymore??
 Three walkers??
I just can't.
But, pretty much at baseball class the Monday after Matt & Sandy's wedding, it just clicked for Dylan.
He stood up and just started walking.
When he fell each time, he just stood up again and he pretty much never crawled again.
  Dylan Walking

Another thing that happened was literally one of the scariest and worst moments I have had as a parent yet, equivalent with losing Ty on the 4th of July. (I don't know why these moments are getting more frequent...)

It's a long story, but essentially, Dylan pulled his dresser down on himself. He opened the drawers and either tried to crawl up it or just pulled it over once the drawers were open and the weight wasn't disbursed evenly.
Either way, I had run back to my room and was away for no more than 30 seconds to a minute when I noticed he hadn't toddled in after me yet.
I ran back to his room quickly and found him under the dresser.
His legs were sticking out and he was completely still and quiet.
 It was terrifying.
I had that burst of adrenaline and threw the dresser off him and picked him up as fast as I could.
He then started crying and boy, so did I.
I looked him over and was scared to move his arms and legs and was just making sure he could move everything and I was just crying like crazy too.
 He quit before I did.
Ty was SO, SO sweet and calmly and rationally told me to just "breathe in and blow it out" like I tell him when he's throwing a fit.

My friend Stacee called me right then and talked me down a little and as soon as 8:30 hit, I called the doctor. By then Dylan was walking and babbling and acting totally normal but, I still just couldn't believe it.
I was nervous maybe he had a concussion or something.
Dr. Scott advised me not to bring him in and just to watch him. He said normally with a fall like that he would look for eyes to track, no speech slurring, and no abnormal swaying while walking but, since a one year old can't track their eyes, talk or walk without wobbling ever, there was really no point.
He said, just watch him for anything out of the ordinary, make sure his extremities are working fine and that he is arousable during sleep.
All of that was totally fine and other than a few bumps and bruises, he was perfect.
It was a total praise and a total miracle.
I will never forget it and just wanted it documented in his book about how God totally protected him as a baby.
Praise God for his provision and protection!
I sure do love this toddling, accident-prone, tough-as-nails angel baby.

Dylan - 13 months

Dylan is just growing and learning leaps and bounds lately too. It is so fun to see him learn to love the same things Kinley and Ty did. He has discovered our little outdoor slide that Kinley got from Kathy when she was 1 and just like Kinley and Ty at his age, he LOVES it and could be on it all day long.

Love this teethy selfie-loving babe.   He has like every tooth you get.  I think 16 or so?  I don't know...just all of them.

We got to BSF every Wednesday morning now and at first it was a long time in the nursery for him.  He is MUCH better now but, he cried a LOT at first and one day I walked up and saw him asleep on the ground like this because he was so tired from crying. Poor baby!
  Dylan 13 months
Now, he just goes right in and when I come get him he's walking around playing.  I love watching him wear tons of hand-me-downs.  Poor kid has zero new clothes of his own.  This set of camo pjs was given to me by my cousin when I found out I was pregnant.  Baby's first set of camo.  Now Dylan can wear it 7 years later. I love you angel boy.
