Bed Rest

So, it happened again. My blood pressure spiked on Friday at my last appointment before inducing Ty. The good news is, I only have to be on bed rest for 5 days. The bad news is....I feel slightly like a prisoner. I am supposed to lay on my left side, eat zero salt, take my blood pressure occasionally, and drink lots of water over the next 5 days. To top it off...(TMI headed at you)...I was supposed to compile all my pee for the first 24 hours into a container and take it to be processed this morning and have my blood drawn also. And, I am missing a very fun wedding tonight for a friend! (Debbie Downer alert!!) Some may think it sounds like a dream to lay around for a few days but, with a very active 2 year old it proves very difficult. Also, there is only so much you can do laying on your left side. There is nothing on TV right now and in the past 24 hours I have already watched 3 movies: Something Borrowed, Newsies, and Little Fockers. I am also set up on the couch with a book, the iPad (which I am currently blogging from), and my phone. So, if everyone could please post some awesome blogposts and call me all the time, I would love it!

All in all, I know this is so worth it to be in better health for delivery on Wednesday for baby Ty! I am so excited and I am just going to try to enjoy the weekend before rest is just a distant memory. I hope you guys have a great weekend and until then we will be hanging out much like this:

First Day of 2 Year Old Class

Just a couple pics of Kinley this morning before the first day. My mom reminded me this morning to sing "School Day, School Day dear ol' Golden Rule Day" which of course I did! I hope I remember to do it every morning on the first day of school like she did. Kinley was not in a picture taking mood really but then I told her we could do it outside and she got a little more excited. The weather was amazing today and it was so nice to be outside.

Nevermind the princess big girl panties....

I tried to get a good pic of her in front of her classroom but, she was too excited to run in and grab a spot at the table by Eden. What a blessing...no tears at all!

I am so excited to see how she will grow and all she will learn this year.

Prepping for the first day of school

Well, to start off, Happy Labor Day! I hope many of you are out there on the lake, or outside enjoying this amazing weather today! We are taking it easy today so that it will not truly be my "labor" day. Baby Ty, hang in there a few more days please :-) Instead, we are doing a different kind of "labor" and prepping for Kinley's first day of school. We finally start tomorrow...yay!

We had a Parent Night and Meet the Teacher last week and we got a little "homework" for Kinley to bring for her first day. She is going to be in the Lion's class this year and so she needed to bring her mascot all dressed up. We brought out a variety of things for Kinley to decorate her mascot including lots of fabric, ribbon, beads, colors, stickers and mod podge. Kinley wanted to try a little bit of everything.

IMG_7736
We started off by just coloring...
IMG_7737
She wanted to put "shoes" on the lion and so we just hot glued some fabric over the feet so she can lift up the fabric and still see the lion's feet.
IMG_7738
She also loved painting the mod podge on some pictures we cut out and asked for her name on the lion's back and a bow on the lion's tail. (Super ironic since I can't get her to wear a bow to save her life!)

IMG_7742
IMG_7739
She insisted on taking her shirt off to paint..

Her finished mascot!
IMG_7758
Then we got her "All About Me" page ready by writing down a few things about her and printing out a picture of our family and our house. (I am a little sad that Baby Ty isn't in the family picture yet...but, soon!)
IMG_7759
IMG_7761
Her teachers also provided bags with monogrammed names on them for every 2 year old in the school (5 classes worth!) and gave us an iron on for their class mascot. They want this to be their bag for the year. So sweet..but, I feel like Kinley may miss her backpack...she was definitely trying it on all morning to prep for school!

Well, after all that, I think we are ready for school tomorrow!

Ty's Room and some 4D pics

After my fantastic shower I finally got everything put away in Ty's room and I think it is as ready as it is going to get before he gets here. I am not totally sold that it is done and would love to get a cool rug or maybe some more wall decor at some point...but, I just don't see that happening before he comes.
(And let's be honest...he won't really sleep in there for a few months as that is entirely too far away from mama).
But, for now, here are the final-ish pics of Ty's room.

His bedding is just plain organic white cotton and I love it. We have such amazing blankets and some cool pillows to bring in different colors with. I like it simple.

The DAY I found out I was having a boy I ordered these stuffed animal head mounts that Kristen has. I LOVE them.
IMG_7718
IMG_7732
That banana-leaf chair in the corner is one of my all-time fav purchases. If you can believe it...it looks just like this Pottery Barn Seagrass Wingback Chair & Ottoman for $599 and I bought it at Big Lots for $39. That's right...thirty-nine dollars. Score!
IMG_7722
You have def already seen this changing table and these picture frames.
IMG_7723
Kristen's hubby, Jeff, made these shelves for Ben and I for our wedding. We also added some boy-ish decor to the corner shelves

Gotta love a Flying H brand. Ben made this one on this trip to the ranch.

Overall, I like the way it turned out. I am not the best photographer...but, you get the idea.

I just can't wait to get him home! It is coming up quick. Here are few 4D pics we happened to get at our last sonogram. I can't get over those chubby cheeks!

Dress Up

Since we are pretty much not doing anything fun at all today...we are reminiscing about a fun day last week when Jen, Eden and Jack came to play. These girls don't know how to contain their excitement together. I mean...remember this video of them? It is pretty cute.

First order of business upon arrival was to strip down naked and put on dress-up clothes. Just recently has Kinley been getting into playing dress up. I don't know why she hasn't really cared much about it until now...but, for a few days straight she has only wanted to wear her Princess Tiana dress.

How cute are these princess cheese faces!?
IMG_7699
IMG_7698
Oh...the mullet...when will she ever grow hair in the front!?
IMG_7700
And then Eden has to rub it in with her long beautiful locks!
IMG_7701
IMG_7703
Who doesn't love a flower as a hat?
IMG_7704
And look at this handsome big boy! Jack is already pulling himself up on everything. How much fun will he and Ty be too!?
IMG_7712
They took some turns pushing each other around on the tricycle.

And, we found out today that they will be in the same preschool class this year! (I know..we still haven't started school yet...not until next week!) I don't know how Kinley will contain her excitement 3 days a week with Eden in her class. I hope our poor teacher is ready!
Happy Monday!

Dinner Date by Numbers

Last night I took Ben on a date just for him. I know that our lives are about to get very crazy and for the next couple months my attention will be very much devoted to Ty and Kinley and getting our lives and routines down. I know I will be tired and stressed and at the same time overwhelmed with emotion and joy. I could feel that stress as well as the added pressure of providing for a family of 4 creeping up on Ben. I wanted to take a night to just be about him. I am so thankful and proud of all he does for our family and for the husband and father that he is. I just wanted him to know it in a simple way.

So, I kind of created a dinner date by numbers / scavenger hunt night for him. We did not do a lot, basically just spent time together but, I also got him a few very simple, little things that he has mentioned he wanted. So, the numbered cards basically switched off between gift and activity for the night.

When he got home, I told him his parents were coming to babysit and not to worry about why. As we got in his car, he opened up card #1. Dinner at Pappadeaux! He had received a gift card from Franchesca for his graduation and we still hadn't used it! This was the perfect opportunity.
IMG_7686
Card #2 he opened in the parking lot before dinner. He had been asking for a water bottle like one I had gotten myself for quite a while. Kinley picked out the color and I know he will use it everyday at work and working out.
IMG_7690
Cards #3,4 & 5 were at dinner. Long story short...because we have a new couch, every time we leave the house our dog, Haley, has been pinned up in our bedroom and she has jumped on our bed and ripped holes in Ben's side of the sheets...so he has been sleeping on sheets with holes for a while. Also, he mentioned the night before that he really wanted a new mystery book to just zone out and relax. I know he likes Jonathan Kellerman and the Alex Delaware novels...so, I got one of those. Card #5 was about our next activity. Lucky Strike! It is new in Ft. Worth and we hadn't been yet. It is a really cool atmosphere and a great indoor activity! (We only bowled one game because Ben was a little afraid that if I strained myself trying to beat him I might go into labor....but, it was still so much fun)
IMG_7689
IMG_7691
IMG_7692
Card #6 may seem weird...but, I bought him a new trash can. He literally has had a severe hatred for our trash can for the 5 1/2 years we have been married. It is so difficult to change the trash sac and it seems full when the sac is really only like half full...who knows...he just hates it. He has asked for birthdays and father's day and multiple occasions for a new trash can. So, I finally bought him a new one. He was very excited.
IMG_7693
Card #7 was the last card of the night. This was so simple and fun and I just loved spending a spontaneous and fun night with Ben before baby Ty comes!
