Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July to all of you out there!
Our 4th was pretty low-key.
We just had a lot of family togetherness time.
No parades or even fireworks if you can believe it.
It made me kind of sad that the 4th was on a Wednesday this year because it seemed to get lost in the shuffle a little.  I just want to make sure we remember and are so thankful for those men and women who have fought for our freedom.  It is such a privilege and a blessing to live in this country.
We have a lot more 4th of July festivities to come this weekend and I am so excited about that.
But, today it was just so nice to have Ben home and pretty much just spend the day together.

Our 4th of July prep started yesterday when Kinley, mom and I went to get pedicures.  Kinley got her toes and fingers painted.  It was her first nail salon experience and she was so patient and sweet and just loved it.

Ty sat with us like a champ.

The result left her totally ready for the holiday.

Then, Kinley and I made the patriotic strawberries that are all over the internet and pinterest.
I do have to say that they were delicious and SO, SO easy to make.
Kinley pretty much made all of them and loved it.

This morning, Ben cooked pancakes for breakfast and made Kinley one in the shape of a '4.' It was so funny because Kinley kept combining "Fourth" and "July" and saying "July-eth"...which kind of sounded like "Goliath."

We celebrated this afternoon and evening at my parents house with family.  It was so fun and so relaxing.

We took a few family pics since we were all dressed in red, white and blue. Although all you can really see is blue in these pics.

Kinley loved it... IMG_0758 IMG_0759 IMG_0757 IMG_0747 IMG_0768 IMG_0777
right until the very end
when her 4th or 5th sparkler went out
and she immediately grabbed the spot where it was lit and burned her finger and thumb.
Poor baby has a blister and is sleeping with an ice pack.

Hope you guys had a great holiday!  We can't wait to celebrate more this weekend!
