an egg-stra special week

Today was Kinley's Easter Egg Hunt at school. We have been practicing hunting and hiding eggs a lot at home. I have a feeling this activity will last long past Easter. We were supposed to send 12 filled eggs to school today with something other than candy. I mean, what is fun in that!? That is the point of easter eggs really...to eat lots of candy right!? Well, we ended up putting bubbles and a bouncy ball in each one with a sweet little note to her friends.

We have decorated an egg tree that I found on the $1 aisle at Target. It has provided endless entertainment as we take the eggs off and put them back on over and over.

And we have grown some grass in eggs, courtesy of Darby and her fantastic tutorial. We even had so much extra grass left over we decided to grow some in glass jars. Maybe I will use these all as a centerpiece or something. Who knows. But, they turned out super cute!

Zoo Craziness

Friday we went to the Ft. Worth Zoo with this lovely family.
IMG_5891
We had talked it up all week long to Kinley and Eden and they were SO excited about seeing the animals. In the future, I will probably NOT do that because that gave us zero option to turn around and leave once we saw the massive amounts of people that were also fighting to attend the zoo that day. I swear, it must have been a national take your school to the zoo day because there were, no doubt, 30-40 school buses and a 30 minute wait in your car just to park. I would have turned right around and picked another day to go to the zoo if I did not have two sweet angel girls in the back talking all about their favorite animals.

We took the wagon and pulled Eden and Kinley around while Jack pretty much slept like the perfect angel in his stroller the whole time.

Most of the pictures are the backs of these girls heads....so depressing for sweet Kinley because look at Eden's long, beautiful locks.

We did see some really fun animals. The white tigers played around right in front of the window the girls were looking through. They loved the monkeys...although Jen was quite concerned that they keep the gorilla sedated because he was so lethargic. The flamingos are a huge hit because they walk around right by you and make tons of noise. The elephants were playing with a big stick which they thought was cool.

But, the black bear was the topper this time. Every other time I have seen him he sits really far below the exhibit and you can't really see him. But, this time he jumped up on the rocks and was splishing and splashing in the water. The girls LOVED it.

We stopped for a snack at the Grandy's (which was devastatingly closed for good....so sad for me because I remember going to that Grandy's in like elementary school) and the girls just played and played in the safari truck and a big chair with cheeto faces.

Big News (for pretty much none of you)

Kinley has a little something to say....

I know pretty much all of you that read this blog already know our news...but, we are excited to share anyway.

Let's say it again...just for fun.

We are excited about our little one coming in September. I am 17 weeks along right now and this was the best pic I could get of myself. (The belly shot is for Mendy...who semi-thinks its weird....but, hey at least it is not a bare belly :-)

We get to find out the gender pretty soon and we are so excited to see what it will be. I don't really have a gut feeling at this point...I think sisters would be super fun. But, I haven't had a boy so that would be fun too. We are really just praying for a healthy, happy baby. Kinley changes her mind daily if she's having a brother or a sister. She just can't decide. She is also not quite sure what it means when I tell her there is a baby in my tummy. She usually just tries to shove her baby doll into my stomach....not quite what I meant..but, oh well. We really just can't wait to have another sibling and sweet angel like this one.

We will keep you posted :-)

Swim Class

We have been taking swim class again this spring to get Kinley ready for the massive amounts of time we will be in the pool this summer. I do NOT think she will complain since she loves to swim and pretty much has a fit every time I take her out of the pool. She just loves her swim class. Every moment the entire time she has a smile on her face and giggles with excitement. On her birthday a couple weeks ago my mom came to watch Kinley and take some pics and video. I just don't want to forget these little moments and I think the blog is the best way to remember them! I just love looking back at some old stuff from over a year ago and reminiscing. Time flies so quickly!

We are taking Waterbabies again this time since she was not 2 yet when we started and we never really went through the whole class last time. That means I get in the water with her.

Her favorite song is "Cuckoo Clock" (watch the video) and her favorite activity is getting in the ring and independently swimming around all by herself.

She jumps off mats and the wall and towers to go under water and hold her breath until she either pulls herself up on my t-shirt or I pull her up. We add on a second each week to her breath control and she is doing so good!

And at the very end of class they all have the teacher help them slide down the slide into the water.

Here is a quick video summary of swim class.
I hope you all do lots of swimming this summer too!
