new skirts
Because my friends and I have to do EVERYTHING matching....I copied the adorable elastic waist skirts they have been making on Lullaby Lubbock with the pattern from here. Kinley and I will have to wear these in the summer...maybe over some cute swimsuits...but, I love them! I ended up trying a pattern and I think it turned out ok.

daddy-daughter night
Friday was a lazy day and night for miss Kinley. We hung out around the house all day and she had some quality daddy-daughter time Friday night. In her Kai-Lan inspired pj's (with pandas on them) she had a fun day.
She walked around...ALOT...her favorite new thing to do...
She played with Haley....
Played with some toys....
And loved on her daddy!

walk with me
It is just amazing to me that our baby girl can WALK! She took her first few wobbly steps a few weeks ago and just decided to keep crawling mostly. She would try occasionally but, really started to get determined and finally got it last week. It seems like yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital..I can't believe 10 months has gone by. I am thrilled for her and also so, so sad. I feel like my baby is not a baby anymore! There is something about it that just makes my stomach ache. This is just the beginning of her walk through life and I can't wait to see what the Lord has to unfold for her.
We love you Kinley and we are so proud to walk with you!

LAS VEGAS!!!
This weekend we went to Las Vegas...kid-free...and crazy! It was seriously the best trip I have ever been on...so fantastic. If you have a minute...read the crazy stories on Lullaby Lubbock about Gamblin, GARTH BROOKS, and the t-shirt attire. It was seriously the craziest weekend ever.

Its SNOWING!!
I don't think I can ever remember it snowing so much! It has already snowed 7 inches today and it just keeps snowing and snowing! It is crazy...but, so much fun! Kinley was fascinated by the snow and wanted to watch it fall all day.
Dropping off Kinley with Honey in the snow!
Hope everyone is staying warm and having lots of indoor fun!

Avery's felt dress-up princess present
Kinley has this toy at our house that is a dress-up princess magnet set. Avery LOVES to play with it when she comes over...so, I decided to make her one of her own for her birthday! This was a pretty daunting task for me, since I am new to sewing. There is just as much cutting felt in this project as there is sewing...but, it was so fun to make for her! I used the magnets as inspiration to design the base of the outfits and did a lot of hand-stitching for adornment. I also added velcro to the back of the outfits and to the felt girl so that Avery can take them on and off, etc.
This is the magnet set that I am attempting to mimick.
This is after cutting the felt, before any sewing or adorning.
I had to wind all these bobbins for all the different colors of thread I used in this project!
Here are the finished outfits. The magnet is on the left and my felt outfit on the right.
These last two I just made up because I had some cool pattern felt at home...and Avery's birthday theme is hearts!
Which hair color to choose??
Here is the girl with an outfit on! I am aware that she kind of looks like a snowman but, there are not really any good flesh-colored felt options...so, we went with white. So, I did color it a little with a beige fabric art marker. Turns out she just looks a little dirty...but, much better than the snowman look.
This was a fun project for me! I am sure I would do a bunch of things differently next time...but, it was so fun to learn a lot more on the sewing machine! Happy Birthday Avery! You are the sweetest, funniest, best role model for all the babies and I can't believe you are 4 years old!

Mantle Mirror
This past weekend Ben and I went on a hunt for a mirror to put over our mantle. We are kind of in the process of finally getting our living room decorated. We didn't really find anything we loved for a great price so we decided to make it like we wanted!
We bought a discounted, beat up wooden frame mirror at Tuesday morning for cheap and decided to spray paint it. We bought an outdoor metal gray paint that you would use on a bicycle or a mail box at Lowe's. The color is fabulous and the finish is shiny and cool. For $3 it turned this mirror into something pretty cool!

Week in review...
It is a rare occasion that I dont post for a week...but, somehow blogging has gotten away from me this week...so, to wrap up our week, here is a little photo-montage of what we had been up to! I have also been spending lots of time sewing and making Avery's birthday present for her party Saturday! Stay tuned for those pics :-)
Last Friday we had Eden over to play and we had a blast!
Eden played in the excersaucer...
while Kinley played in the pack in play...just to chew on the sides of it...ah, teething!!
We built a fort with pillows, blankets and a tunnel!
This is Kinley's new favorite toy because she can push it around and walk behind it.
Friday night we went to the Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo with Joe, Emily and Alex! It was cold, cold, cold. But, so fun. We had tickets to the Reata Backstage Club where we could eat and watch the Rodeo from above. We did not have the best seats...but, we did have the best company!
I could sit and watch the Miracle Blade guy cut all day long...so weird how captivating it is!
Ben got his boots shined...
And we all waited on him...
Joe got excited about some fanny-packs.....and why wouldn't he!?
Emily and I stood on the shaking workout machines that basically just shake you skinny.....kinda wish I had one.
This is how much it shakes you, for real.
Emily's pic back on solid ground.

Yay for the Rodeo!!
Another new thing this week is Kinley's new fascination with climbing the stairs! She LOVES it and could do it all day long. So, here are some pics of her and Eden climbing the stairs at church.
Hope you all have had a fantastic week full of friends and fun!
